Intro
A major oil service company has an opening in Greater Houston Area, Texas
for a Modeling and Simulation Engineer. The Modeling and Simulation Engineer
will be responsible for developing digital representations (or twins) of
physical assets or processes to produce business outcomes. You will need to
work seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team and present project progress
to various internal and external clients.

Responsibilities:
The candidate may work on any of the following:
• Understand the design, manufacturing, and operation of the
products you perform Modeling and Simulation on
• Gather project-related information through internal and external
sources
• Develop high-fidelity physics-based models and their reduced-
order versions
• Develop data-driven models with machine learning techniques
• Integrate physics-based models and machine learning models to
improve model accuracy and performance
• Integrate various models developed in different software
environments into a system model to enable co-simulation and accurately
predict the performance and health condition of a physical asset
• Process, analyze, and infuse sensor data into models for off-line
or real-time calibrations
• Develop scripts to link different pieces of information and
automate repetitive tasks
• Deliver results per defined key project milestones along with
team members and collaborators
• Present project progress updates to stakeholders and management
• Develop domain expertise and share knowledge with peers and the
engineering community

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering,
Civil Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics, with a specialty in Applied
Mechanics or Machine Learning; Recent Ph.D. graduates with 1-3 years’
postdoctoral experience are welcome to apply; B.S. degree in Mechanical
Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
• Knowledge of data science and machine learning is a must, and
cloud computing experience is highly desirable
• Extensive experience in scientific coding (C/C++, Python,
Modelica) is required, knowledge of reduced order model and surrogate model
is highly desirable.
• Experience on Digital Twin development is a big plus
• Solid knowledge of Ansys or Simulia software products is highly
desirable. Experience in other commercial codes for Computational Mechanics
is a plus.
• Experience in functional mockup unit generation, model
integration, and co-simulation is highly desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Autonomous and creative approach towards challenging problems
• Knowledge of Oilfield terminology and business practices. Oil &
Gas Industry exposure
• Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US
