As a Quantitative Analyst Intern at Wintel Analytics, I worked with a Pricing Modeling team from a large consumer finance company. I participated in projects that related to risk model developing and monitoring, and applied technologies include SQL, SAS, R, and Python.

I could say it is a challenging but very abundant learning experience. Apart from statistical and programming knowledge that I learned from course work, I got opportunities to get familiar with more sophisticated and advanced models that could apply to real-world business situations. Besides learning and participating in the risk model developing process, I gained hands-on experiences about monitoring and analyzing ongoing performances of current models.

In the technical knowledge aspect, I learned how to apply ETL skills more efficiently in SQL, especially when dealing with an industry-level large amount of data. And the model management processes I participated in allowed me to practice advanced SAS, R and Python programming skills. In addition to existing statistical and modeling technologies that currently used in the company, I also worked with the team to explore advanced machine learning solutions in order to improve efficiency.

I also enjoy working in such a fast-pace and friendly teamwork environment. I would like to thank Dan Wang, who led me to this wonderful team and guided me throughout the whole process. And I would also express my gratefulness to Liu Yang, Joe Yang, Liang Shi, and Chenying Lin, who patiently provided supports whenever I needed help. I am very grateful for this internship opportunity.
